Digital Technician or DigiTech: a professional specifically responsible and knowledgeable for all aspects related to computer set up and calibration, camera set up and calibration, software, workflow, file management, image editing, and troubleshooting associated with digital capture equipment on any given assigned photo shoot.
So is being a first assistant the same as a DigiTech? No. Occasionally a first assistant may be required to do work a DigiTech would normally do, but a DigiTech generally doesn't do most of the production work that assistants have traditionally done. Instead DigiTechs direct full attention to the digital aspects of the shoot.
